Hence, we are planning some improvements for this site. This is so that we can make TBAAJ Forums the best that they have ever been!
Below are the improvements that are being planned for 2018. Timescales have not been determined yet, though this is also since we are open to other suggestions and input. After all, this is a nice community, so we want to make sure the whole community has a positive input to what improvements are required, and what this will mean to the site for all of us.
Planned Improvements So Far:
- Revamp of General Discussion and Forum Games - with more attention to the lesser used counting threads and more varied discussions in General Discussion
Potential Improvements to The Marketplace (any input on this appreciated)
Renaming Fitness to Sport, with subsections for certain sports
Healthy Eating (currently a part of Fitness) merged into Food and Drink - with potential for its own subsection
Creating new section "Entertainment" - housing Sport and Media World subsections. Media World to be re-modelled, with Music and Radio being a main sub-forum of Entertainment. Dedicated sections for Movies and potentially other subsections that are relevant to Entertainment. Gaming moved from Technology to Entertainment.
Computer hardware & software renamed to Technology and Computers (or similar). Subsections for PCs and Laptops, Tablets and Mobile Phones. Mobile Network discussion can be either made as a subforum of Mobile Phones or Entertainment. New subforum for Windows OS'es (as that is currently missing) - with current subforums of Computer Hardware/Software being subforums of PC's and Laptops.
Overhaul of The Back Room and related subforums, with potentially new subforums being created. More details to follow in a dedicated TBR thread.
Miscellaneous areas/moderator only areas to be re-modelled as appropriate.
New Members Welcome to be renamed to The Welcome Lounge.
Re-ordering of subforums of "Forum" - e.g. Ask A Moderator to be moved lower down the list, below "Report A Problem". "Forum" main section to be renamed to "Help and Announcements" (or similar), as Forum is not a suitable name for a main section.
Suggestions to look into:
- Improvements to Photography/Film Making - potentially adding subforum for user made YouTube Videos.
Potential to add a subforum for reviews of products/tutorials - can tie along with the idea for a YouTube-based subforum?
Certain subsections are completely empty (i.e. Cameras, religion etc) - suggestions for improvements?
Science subsections improvements - particularly Human/Earth Science?
Revamping/Cleaning of The Guestbook - there are 227 pages of guestbook signings and the vast majority are spam. Potential to look into this problem and find a solution.
Of course, if you have any other suggestions, then definitely let us know, as it may well be possible to incorporate them into these future plans to help improve the site.
