coleslaw's 3DS PIN cracking attempt log

Postby lucozadesp0rt » March 3rd, 2016, 5:35 pm

So my 3DS has had a PIN on it that I can't remember for the life of me and I decided today to phone customer support and after about half hour on hold i got through to an advisor who told me that I have to send my 3DS to their office to be sorted it out and I have to pay the postage! Absolutely mad! Being the stingy fella I am, I've decided to attempt to crack the PIN by running through every single last combination. All 10,000 of them. This is a little log to help me remember what number I'm currently on and just so you can see my progress all the way from 0000 to 9999 :D

Let's hope that you manage to recover the PIN in the end! :) After all, it might take a while to go through all 10,000 combinations...

This is why I will NOT put a PIN on anything that I don't often use, so that I don't forget it!

I once set a PIN on my 2005 Nokia phone and ended up having to get it unlocked! :doh2:

Nowadays you wouldn't want to use a 2005 specced phone as it probably doesn't even have 3G capabilities.

Wow, fast reply!
It just so happened it did have 3G support but as I only ever used it for texting and calls, I was on 2G.

Wow - so it was one of the first phones to actually support 3G!

Chances are, it would just be basic 3G (i.e. UMTS, not HSPA or HSPA+) and I wouldn't be at all surprised if most of the calls got routed over 2G.

I think that a 3G device is pretty much essential nowadays :) :yep:

Yep, I must have been online at the same time as you was!

Btw, I'll give the CTAMM thread until tomorrow evening; if it hasn't been sorted by 17:00 GMT then I'll have to use 16b - we can't keep counting incorrectly, and it's only 2 posts that we'll have to redo. Is that ok? :)

Ok, but only if you ask Angryjellyfish about removing my black card! :D

Plus you remind me of Bradley Walsh from The Chase with your marshalling of the counting threads! :D

Plus, did you get a posting tip or blue card for posting about the missing CTAMM posts?

I will send her a PM tonight and see what she says about it. I don't know what, if any, response will be - I might get ignored, or told to put anything through AtCT.

Speaking of, AtCT is useless because I quoted every single CT member I could think of and I STILL haven't had my posts restored on CTAMM.

Things would be very different if I was ST'ing - those posts would be back in a matter of minutes, all impostors/PBUs would be banned, and I might (depending on if the CT allow it) allow you to have an account on there - but only one. :)

I have since infilled with a rule 16b, because we know that nothing's going to happen with the CT, however, please note:

I will also make sure that this is stuck to - if anyone starts deviating from the correct posts, either on purpose or accidentally, sanctions will be handed out.

Anyone who is counting incorrectly (on purpose) and is believed to be from The Brits Are A Joke forums will get a MINIMUM of 10% warn on TBAAJ.

I find it very frustrating when all my (and other peoples!) time and effort is wasted/messed about by people who like to somehow mess the thread up - including: people who impersonate, people who don't post any number, people who delete numbers, people who deliberately post incorrect numbers etc. It's a counting thread - not a mess around thread. Mess around posts are fine in the "Last Person To Post Here Wins" thread :yep:

I also don't have the time to keep a watchful eye over the threads (in comparison to how often I used to post on here), however I still look for (and pick up on) anything that is amiss. Also, I can tell who is, and who isn't posting, due to things like posting styles (something that the CT often doesn't pick up on).

Until I am able to get ST privileges (I will apply one day), please help me, don't hinder me. :hugs:

Thanks :)

Awesome! :)

:hugs:

Thanks :)

Please could you ask again? Its just your persistence paid off with the global ignore issue so I'm sure the missing posts issue will be fixed with some persistence. :yep:

Back on topic, another issue I have had with PINs and passwords: I remember my stepdad set a BIOS password ON MY OWN LAPTOP so that I couldn't change any of the BIOS settings, then when I tried using a tool to remove it, it tucked everything up in the BIOS, preventing it from booting, then had to wait just over a month for my laptop to be repaired before I could use it again! :banghead:  :(

Yes!! u should get ST and unban pinkteddy :D

If the CT allow me to (without getting banned myself), then I will! :)

I plan on applying to the CT anyway, to help out in Chat/FG (so that the CT don't have to deal with basic things/time consuming things such as editing out offensive comments, editing people's numbers, dupe checks on PBUs/impostors etc) - as St members can give put post tips, blue cards and black cards - thus I can quickly black card any PBUs and edit any posts (and give posting tips to people who just post to mess up the threads!).

I think the CT have been ignoring me because the only person who replied to my AtCT thread was Gothic Kitten, and she stated that I'd have to wait for Puddles The Monkey to sort things out. Unfortunately, he hasn't got back to me in over a week (despite tagging him and other CTs) and everyone else seems to be ignoring me.

With regards to the global ignore issue, it was only because Andy98 posted in public about it. They'd probably ignore me because I have already asked in AtCT. (In fact, they'd probably warn me, and link me back to AtCT!)

When the CT can't do anything to help us, we've got to do whatever we can to keep things flowing - which usually means rule 16b. If you don't like the rule 16b method on CTAMM, there's always CTAM/CTAM by 5's/MTZ to post in. :)

It's just that it's been over a week (approaching 2 weeks!) and we can't keep posting incorrectly, as stated on the CTAMM thread (and on here).

That's unlucky, to say the least - thankfully, I have never had BIOS Passwords put onto a laptop, because you can't often remember them. Then you're locked out in case anything goes wrong. You can't also reinstall Windows as that has nothing to do with the computers' BIOS.

The only way to fix it would be a trip to your local computer shop. :(

Or in my case, PC World sending the laptop back to Packard Bell!

At the same time, I asked for a RAM upgrade whilst it was away for repair, which I got, meaning Sims 2 worked beautifully on it!

That must have been inconvenient and costly! :(

It's good that they did give you your RAM upgrade, which is good as it will be able to handle more powerful programs. How much RAM did it have to begin with, and what was it upgraded to? :)

It was free because it still (only just!) had it's warranty.

It originally had 256MB of RAM but an extra 1GB was added making it a total of 1.25GB of RAM.

Thank goodness it was still within warranty! :)

Ouch - in that case, you'd definitely need the extra 1GB RAM! Was it an XP machine? I doubt Vista or 7 would run very well at all on 256MB RAM, and even XP would struggle running intensive tasks with that amount of RAM.

You really need at least 1GB RAM nowadays, to run most things ok - as well as being able to run modern OSes such as Windows 7.

Who knows...

Btw, did you see my update to the FM Radio test? Any suggestions before I go all out and re-do the whole sodding test?

P.S. You made it to 200! Only 9800 to go :p
