Wasn't 2012 the year when Fernando Alonso crashed into the back of Lewis Hamilton? Or was that another year/another circuit?

Something I don't like is the penalty system that they use for using too many engine parts/gearbox etc. Just think about Stoffel Vandoorne. He ended up with 65 places of grid penalty. This is just insane - that's more than 3x the amount of cars that start on the grid, for fuck sake....

The only reason why Alonso stood a chance in qualifying was due to using both McLarens to generate a tow, to help each other. In the race, nothing like this could happen, so the McLarens went backwards whilst everyone else went forwards.

McLaren seriously need to ditch Honda as their engine supplier for 2018.

Hmm, interesting stuff. I'm surprised that any team is using the Honda power unit, because it always struggles with tracks that have lots of long straights.

Also surprising that Sainz is seemingly going to another team - I'd have thought that Kyvat was leaving Torro Rosso, considering the amount of incidents he tends to cause!

Honda have been poor (certainly in regards to straight line speed) ever since F1 went with the hybrid engines, with the energy recovery system, so I highly doubt they will improve...
Just remember back to Spa 2017. Sector 2 was fine for the Honda's, however Sectors 1 and 3, with long straights, were very poor indeed, with the qualifying only being as good as it was because one of the McLaren drivers gave the other one a tow up the straights, to try and close the deficit. Of course, that couldn't happen in the race, so the McLaren Honda's slipped backwards.
